A Little Wednesday Advice

Hey y'all! Here's a little advice to use sometime this week or in the future. I am TERRIBLE at remembering names, but this always works for me – both via text and in person.

Have a good day!

Warby Parker Winter Collection

When I was contacted by Warby Parker the other day to write a post about their new winter glasses collection coming out today, I couldn't help but to say yes! I'm a girl that never leaves home without a pair of glasses or sunglasses, winter or summer. So these new styles and frames are just to die for if you're currently in the market.

Sunglasses and glasses starting at $95, online and in stores.
*for store locations, visit the website

I think I'll be getting some new frames after seeing these beauties. Have a great day!

SMU vs A&M

Hey y'all! Yesterday was our first gameday and, of course, we lost an overwhelming 58-6. Regardless of the game, the fun is really on the Boulevard. Here are my favorite photos from yesterday:

Tuscaloosa Bound

Officially one month until I visit my BFF Katherine!! Eeek so excited. I'm getting on a Greyhound here in Dallas and riding all the way to Ttown (all 12 hours and 45 minutes). If that's not love I don't know what is! But really, I'm super excited to see my friend and live that Crimson Tide life for 4 days. I'm going on my Fall Break so there wont be any disruption in the school work, so yay :)

Anywho, I can't wait to visit the great state of Alabama and some those Tiders how Mustangs get down! ROLL TIDE

Inspiration for the Day

Hey y'all. This is my first post in exactly a month. It's been so hectic moving from Michigan to Florida to Texas and then moving into the dorms for my second year here at SMU. I'm just so plum tired. I'm taking 18 credit hours and working 10 hours per week. I belong to a couple clubs and I plan on rushing second semester again... Second times a charm (I hope). Anyway, I've just had so much on my plate between school and friends and work and stress and church that I'm running low on motivation. As my cousin once said, "It's not fun unless you're burning the candle at both ends." How true is that.

Today's post isn't about fashion or style or anything of the sort. Today, I want to address life. I've heard it said that the strongest people are the ones that fight their battles in secret, never letting anyone see the struggle that face them. I am a firm believer in that. Y'all, life is hard. It's complicated and messy and exhausting. Being happy takes effort and determination, just as much as success does. Not gonna lie, my life has been a turbulent ride. Last year, especially my second semester, was terrible. I did well in school but friend-wise I was kinda at a loss. I wanted to transfer but it was too late in the semester to do that. But I stayed strong and persevered. I don't give up easily. I never have and I never will. This current semester, it dawned on me that I'm trying so hard to fit in when that's not how I work. I will be the first to say, I'm awkward and quirky. I make stupid mistakes and later have to pray on my downfalls. I'm not perfect though I strive to be. And I think that's where the root of my problems are.

So, this semester, I'm turning over a new leaf and I suggest the same for all my readers (if you're still reading now). This year, I'm going to be happy. That's all I have ever wanted. I want to be happy and I'm going to focus on being content with myself — all my oddities and perks.

I found this on Pinterest so I had to share:

I'm just going to hang on and make the most out of my life. I have to remember there is still so much I want to accomplish and this hard time is just a speck in my life :)

Have an excellent Sunday and til next time!

PS: I'M GOING TO TUSCALOOSA IN OCTOBER TO VISIT MY BEST FRIEND! ROLL TIDE!!!!

Florida Bound

Hey y'all! I can't believe I'm almost done with my job this summer. Tomorrow is my last day! Wow. On Thursday, I'll be off to Naples, FL for week for a kinda family vacation. So excited! So, in packing for my beach vacay, I also have to pack for my impending trip back to Dallas. I actually leave Michigan for good this Thursday (or at least until December!)

But for those that the summer hasn't exactly ended yet and are still off to the beach in the near future, here are my "Must Haves" Beach Edition:

1) Sun hat
Marley Lilly

Protect that skin as much as possible! Ball caps (favorite sports team or monogrammed) are great too!

2) Koozie

Marley Lilly

Keep your drink cool {and holdable} in style! I like Lilly P's koozies too. My 'You Gotta Regatta' koozie is my best friend.

3) Sunscreen

Neutrogena is my favorite. I have super sensitive skin so this is the only type that I can use that won't cause breakouts. It's lightweight and mostly odor-free so it can be used under makeup or just on the beach for a non-greasy look. You can find this sunscreen at any local drugstore (CVS, Walgreen's, Rite-Aid, etc.)

4) Sunglasses
Ray-Ban
I love sunglasses. They make or break an outfit 100%. Everyone needs a good pair of glasses, especially at the beach. My eyes are very sensitive so sunglasses for me are always a must. I love to pair my aviators and wayfarers with my Lilly croakies.

5) Beach Bag
Lilly Pulitzer
I'm a tote kinda girl. I hate backpacks and I carry my entire life with me. I have this tote and let me just say, it's amazing. It's durable and waterproof and the patterns are just to die for. Of course there are cheaper totes that are just as nice, but in my humble opinion, you just can't beat Lilly.

6) Cute Coverup
Proper Prep Collection
I'm a Campus Ambassador for Proper Prep so of course I'd market a little for them! I'm a huge fan of oversized t-shirts. I don't know what it is about them, but they make the perfect coverups. I can't get over it. And because I am a rep for this company, everyone who visits the site and purchases an item will get 10% their purchase with the code: SMU10

7) Bathing Suit
Victoria's Secret
Vicky Seeks (as my Mom calls it) is my favorite place for bathing suits. They have suits for every body type and have a mix-and-match option that is the bomb. The suits are quality material and look great on. I have that top and bottom in a few colors, and let me say, great purchase.

Hope y'all are having a great summer, on a beach or not :)
