Adorable Oxblood

No lie, I have an absolute obsession with oxblood! What a great color. It literally looks good on everything/everyone.

The Hunters are actually Merlot, but close enough! The dress is from Topshop and the jacket from Coach. I love this "rainy-and-cold-yet-perfect-day" outfit. It looks really nice, but when you think about it, it calls for no real effort. That's the beauty of it: it's a functional, yet cute outfit.

I have midterms coming up next week, so if I don't end up posting in a while, I'm not neglecting you! I really do love all you who read my blog, but studies first! :)

*Just to be clear, though, oxblood is a color. Not the organ out of a large pachyderm! Hehe

The Morton Salt Girl

Hey y'all! It has been raining cats and dogs here in MI! Like as in tornado winds and tsunami rains. Obviously it reeks havoc on my hair, but it does make the grass stay nicer, longer. Rain here is, unfortunately, inevitable. Thus, you make the best out of whatever situation you're in! I love the yellow and black look. It is very preppy, yet not overly so. Yellow brings some needed sunshine to what seems to be a dreary day, while black helps in tone down the "summer-y"ness of the outfit. A nice pair of jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt make a perfect base to be creative. Of course Hunter's can come in all kinds of styles and colors, making any outfit possible. And every single preppy brand has their own style of raincoat, making it humanly impossible, NOT to find something that works with your mood.

My Must Haves

1. Tiffany and Co. Bracelet

2. Coach cross body

3. Tervis Tumbler (This isn't a picture of one, but I just loved the polka dots on it!)

4. i-Phone. This is the 4S, but I hear the 5 is pretty cool too!

5. The North Face wind-braker. Hot pink, obviously!

6. Longchamp. Mine's red, but pink is such a fun color.

7. Pearls. Really, there isn't much to be said here.

8. Hunter wellies.

Favorite Shoes

I'll be honest, I love shoes. I have way too many pairs, but as a classic girl, I really couldn't care less. Boots, flats, "trainers", boat shoes. You name it, I have it. I have a pair of shoes for specific outfits, even. My favorite shoes (of the many I have) are the ones I where on everyday occasions.

1. Navy Hunter wellies. I cannot stress enough the vitality of having a pair of these. Honest to goodness, they are an adorable life saver.

2. I have these Sperry Top-Siders in the blue/beige plaid print. I got mine from Plato's Closet for $16 (total steal!) But, I make these my statement piece in outfits. Because you can wear them all year round (and they are just too cute for words), they're an awesome investment.

3. I love, love, love my cowgirl boots. Mine are Old West from Shepler's. I don't really have long enough legs to pull off a riding boot, without looking like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. These are going to be perfect for fall and winter!

4. I have super wide feet, so when I find ballet flats that fit, cue the "Alleluia" chorus! I have these Tahari flats in a nude color. Very sturdy, and extremely comfortable. They were well worth the price since they go with everything.

5. I run. Like everyday. I am the captain of my cross country team, so I run multiple miles on a daily basis. Thus, the need for good running shoes, or as us runners up north call them, "trainers". I used to wear Nike's but now I'm a Brooks girl all the way.

6. I have no shame. I added my running flats, or "spikes", because I just love the pattern. Part of the reason I love races so much is I get to wear my Brooks cheetah flats. Like, really? Who doesn't want to feel cute while feeling as though you're slowly dying inside.

7. These are my basic everyday I-don't-feel-like-looking-cute-and/or-trying shoes. They're the basic leather Sperry Top-Sider boat shoe. If, and when, I don on jeans, at least I have something to keep up that cute preppiness I strive for.

Game Day Necessities

1) Rain boots. Let's be honest, football season anywhere is wet. I hate sitting on cold, metal bleachers with soaking feet. Not fun at all. I personally love Hunter wellies. I have a pair in navy, so they literally go with everything!

2) Tote bag. This one in particular is from Vineyard Vines, but I use my red Longchamp or a medium L.L. Bean "Boat and Tote". It does the job and I don't spend an arm, a leg, and possibly a kidney on the VV one. Nevertheless, a tote is perfect for game season. It holds programs, water, and miscellaneous things girls cram into their bags.

3 & 4) Gloves and Scarves. I don't know about y'all but I hate being cold when I don't have to. In Michigan, that is a HUGE issue. The weather never seems to make up its mind. So, one more thing to cram into the tote is some winter wear. Never know when the nip in the air is too much to handle!

5) Hoodie. The one above is from J. Crew ( or Prepster Mecca), but any hoodie will do. I have many from various sports I do, so I'm all set. But on those cold fall days when y'all are out freezing your "you know whats" off, it's nice to have the extra protection a hood give you. Plus, contrary to popular belief, hoodies are sporty cute!

6) Rain coat. One above is North Face and the one I have is a North Face in a hot flamingo pink. I love, love, LOVE it! It has just enough insulation that I don't freeze, but not so heavy that I'd actually prefer the cold rain to the sweltering heat inside the jacket. Like the wellies above, why would you sit cold and miserable when you don't have to?

7) Coffee traveler. Once again, football games are notorious for being cold. I like the Lilly print above, but any travel mug would do. The one I use is hot pink with lime green polka dots from Einsteins. Love it! In all seriousness though, hot beverages make sitting in the cold cheering seem more... well... cheery.
