Beauty on the Cheap

Hey y'all! What a crazy first week back! Between classes, clubs, working out and managing to keep myself in check, I'm seriously running on low battery (and low funds). So, today, when I went to CVS (I can't afford that Sephora life, sadly) I went ham on all the beauty product I was running dangerously low on.

Marley Lilly Colorblocked Raglan Jersey!

It's here! It's here! It's here! My "thank you for some excellent Marley Lilly's 'The Monogrammed Life' blog posts" gift is here! From the moment I got word of this gift coming, I literally have been stalking USPS like it's my job. And now that my monogrammed jersey is here, I cannot WAIT to show it off! 

Seriously, ask anyone in my dorm, I am O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D. with monograms and have not shut up about this shirt (even though I've only had it in my possession for less than 12 hours...) This is such a versatile shirt. It can be worn down with a pair of leggings, a ball cap and Nike 5.0 Free Runs (what I wore earlier). Or worn a little nicer with a pair of skinny jeans, riding boots, and a vest. 

Just a quick word to the wise before purchasing:

• It runs big. I ordered a size S and it's very roomy. Think almost Spirit Jersey roomy.
• It is not embroidered. It's an appliquéd so it is plasticy. 
• (SEE ABOVE) Therefore, when washing, do NOT use fabric softener. It will loosen the monogram from the shirt.
• I ordered the big monogram on the front (SEE PICTURE BELOW). There are 3 options – big front monogram; small front monogram; big back monogram & small front monogram. See website for further detail!

Well Oops

Oops. Apparently rushing was a lot harder than I thought. I not only am not in a sorority right now, but I also have to wait another semester for informal rush. By then, I pray to God, my tops like me and will accept the bountiful amount of rec letters I'll have in order. I think my real issue was I wasn't prepared for what rush is down here. It's a lot more cut throat and a lot of politicking. I was burned this time. Badly. But next time I won't make that mistake. When I put my mind to something, I never give up. So I will make it my goal this semester to get all good marks and to work toward being "desired" by a sorority. It isn't going to be a fun road, but it is one that must be taken. I mean, God's greatest detours become life's greatest gifts. I can't wait to see what God's plans are for me and I can't wait to see what my future holds. Let's all pray for the best!

I'm Back!

I'm back in the great Lone Star state as of 11am this morning. It's melancholy in that I had to leave my mama (whom is also my best friend), but now I'm back to rush and start another semester (on Friday). I'm so excited to be a sorority and go to all new classes! It's gonna be a good half year; I can just feel it! And soon, in March, I'll be reunited with my mommy for Spring Break. Can't wait!

Hey y'all! I'm soooo nervous for Rush! Like it's in less than a week and I'm not sure what to say, how to act, wear to go, or really anything about this whole rushing process! Eeeek! However, I have picked out a couple of my outfits and I want y'alls opinion!

Post-Workout Smoothie

As a total fitness junkie, I'm always looking for good, energizing foods to help me recover from a difficult  workout. I found this one on Pinterest and I'm in LOVE.

Pinterest:

• 1/2 cup of Almond Milk
• 1 scoop of Chocolate Protein Powder
• 2 tbsp Peanut Butter
• 1/2 cup ice

Blend.

My Own Blend:

• 3/4 cup of Almond Milk
• 1 scoop of unsweetened Vanilla Protein Powder (or Flax Seed if you don't have protein powder)
• 2 tbsp of Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter (Wild Squirrel makes the best!)
• 1 FROZEN medium Banana 
• 1 tbsp of Blue Agave Syrup (but you can add to desired sweetness)

Blend.

Outfits of the Break

Oh my Lord y'all. It is FREEZING in Michigan! Like we have close to 3 feet of snow, 30mph winds and it just keeps on coming. It's crazy! When I do actually leave, I'm bundled up like Nanook of the North. All you can see is my eyes. Not to mention, all this winter weather results in me shoveling like a machine just to get out of my driveway. I'm not impressed Michigan, not impressed.

That being said, I compiled a few of the basic outfits I wore over the past 21 days.
